Centennial's Best Spellers Display Spelling Prowess in 11th Annual Centennial Spelling Bee 2026

41 of Centennial's best spellers in grades 2-5 (see participants and winners listed below) recently participated in our 11th Annual Spelling Bee, and what an event it was!

The contestants for Centennial's 11th Annual Spelling Bee were certainly prepared. Round after exciting round, all participants bravely stood up in a stressful situation and gave it their best shot. It was really something special to see. All of these students are to be applauded - just for being great spellers and for doing their best. 

The final three contestants, Ishwaakh, Damian, and Henry battled through several tough rounds until Ishwaakh was finally declared the winner, after spelling the word "albatross" after twelve rounds. 

Thanks to all the parents, teachers, and others who encouraged these students to participate, and helped them to study along the way. It was an amazing bee! 

We are so excited for our 11th Annual Centennial Spelling Bee!

Important Dates:

  • Written Spelling Test: Week of Jan. 12
  • Centennial Oral Spelling Bee: Friday, February 6th, 12;30-2:30PM
  • District/Regional Oral Spelling Bee: March 4th at Heiman Elem., 3:30PM

We are enrolled in the spelling bee! Interested kids will still take the 25 word spelling test during the week of January 20th, and the top 25-30 students on that test will advance to our 11th Annual Centennial Spelling Bee, to be held on February 3rd. The top 10  winners of the Centennial oral spelling bee will then be invited to our Regional District 6 Spelling Bee, to be held at Heiman Elementary on March 4th at 3:30.

Most of the work for the bee will need to be done by students on their own time. There are suggested lists for studying. I would suggest studying the Spelling Bee Practice Lists 1 (below) first,  and then move up to Spelling Bee Practice Lists 2 (below) after mastering List 1. These lists are a good start for studying.

Forty-Five outstanding spellers from all three schools demonstrated their spelling bravery,  tenacity, and expertise in the Third Annual District Spelling Bee held on March 5th, 2025 at Centennial Elementary School.

All participants are to be commended for bravely getting up in front of a crowd and doing their very best to spell words correctly. It was really something to see.
